My Journey Into Podcasting
After listening to hours of podcasts like Leo Laporte and Dave Ramsey, I decided to bring my 20+ years experience from MC/DJing and start my own podcast.
On November 23, 2010 I hired Cliff Ravenscraft to help get my podcast onto my website.
Within 2 hours everything was ready and the MoneyPlan SOS Podcast was submitted to iTunes. From that day on I was hooked.
MoneyPlan SOS saw moderate success, but I needed to re-brand and get a fresh start.
I retired the show recording episode #200 live at FinCon, a conference for financial bloggers.
But what happened next took my by surprise.
My Journey Into Podcast Editing
In December 2015 I began producing the M.O.N.E.Y. podcast for Paula Pant and J. Money.
The show EXPLODED and hit the #5 Top Podcasts for Business on the 2nd day.
Yeah, they had HUGE email lists BEFORE they launched – and their audience came out in droves.
Over the next three months I took on a couple more clients.
Soon, I didn't have time to commit to the Financial Wellness Coaching business I had been working on for a decade.
Podcast editing was my new job – and I LOVE IT!
What I do
I make sure my clients' podcasts sound professional.
They send me their recordings, usually by DropBox or Google Drive, and I return them as a fully-produced episode.
More than 75% of my clients give me their login credentials for their libsyn.com hosting accounts. This gives me the ability to upload and schedule episodes for them. All the podcaster has to do is create the title and show notes for their blog post – I do the rest.
I also teach others how to edit with Audacity. As my business grows, I need to hire editors to take on the work.
Feel free to contact me if you want to learn how to be a podcast editor or simply learn how to edit faster using Audacity.
